What factory electrical involves
Three-phase work is its own discipline. The work starts with finding out what is actually there. With factory electrical, that means looking at the existing wiring, the panel capacity and whatever the last person left behind.
Most of the time the job is smaller than the worst case people read about online. We find the actual fault, fix that, and leave the parts of the system that are working alone.
Where this comes up
Motor controls, machinery wiring, 480V systems and plant distribution. Most of these calls come from Des Plaines and the surrounding suburbs, but we take them anywhere in our service area.
A lot of the work in Illinois starts in a house or building that has been added onto more than once. Each addition borrowed power from whatever circuit was closest, and by now nobody knows which breaker feeds what. Sorting that out is part of the job.
How we do it
Licensed electricians, to code, cleaned up behind us. Where the village requires a permit we pull it and we meet the inspector, so the work is on record and it passes.
What changes with an older building
Buildings in this part of Illinois cover about a century of wiring practice. Knob-and-tube in the oldest, cloth-insulated branch circuits after that, aluminum wiring in a stretch of the sixties and seventies, and modern copper since. Each one fails differently and each one has its own repair path.
We look at what is actually in the walls before quoting, because guessing from the year the house was built is how people end up with a surprise halfway through.
Who actually shows up
Our electricians are licensed and insured, and they are the same ones who handle our commercial and government work. A homeowner with one flickering light gets that same experience. That is how the owner set it up from day one.
Being on time is part of the job. You are told who is coming and when, and a late arrival gets a call ahead of time. Too many contractors skip that step.
The inspection is the point
An inspection is an independent check that what went behind the drywall matches what was supposed to. Work that passes has been verified by somebody with no stake in the invoice.
That is also why we would rather you hire a licensed contractor than the cheapest number you can find. Unpermitted electrical work is a problem you inherit, and it usually surfaces at the worst moment.
Copper, aluminum and what is in your walls
Aluminum branch wiring went into a lot of houses in the late sixties and early seventies. It is not automatically dangerous, but it expands and contracts more than copper, which loosens terminations over time, and it needs devices and connectors rated for it.
The repair is usually not a full rewire. Proper connectors at every termination, done thoroughly, solves most of it. Anybody quoting you a whole-house rewire on sight has not looked.
What to do before we arrive
Whole house dark? Check whether the neighbors still have lights. If the street is out, that is a ComEd call, not ours. If it is only your building, leave the main off if you already shut it and wait for us.
Keep track of patterns. Does it happen in the morning, in the rain, when the microwave runs? Patterns point us straight at the fault.
We tell you what is wrong before we tell you what it costs.
How the job runs
- Step 1
Call
No call center. The person on the phone knows electrical work and can tell you if it needs someone today.
- Step 2
Diagnose
We find the actual fault. Not a guess, and not a rewire you did not need.
- Step 3
Price
You get the number before the work starts, in writing.
- Step 4
Permit
Where the village requires one, we pull it. That is on us, not on you.
- Step 5
Install
Licensed and insured, to code, cleaned up behind us.
- Step 6
Inspect
We meet the inspector and we sign off. You get the documentation.

Factory electrical, done on the record
Licensed and insured on every call. Where a permit applies it is filed, and the inspection closes the job.
Factory electrical questions
Do you handle factory electrical in Des Plaines?
Yes. Factory electrical is work we do regularly out of our Des Plaines shop, and we cover 24 counties across Illinois. Call and we will tell you when we can be there.
Is the work permitted and inspected?
Yes, whenever the job calls for it. We file the permit with the village or city, schedule the inspection and are there when the inspector arrives. The paperwork comes to you at the end.
How soon can you start?
That depends on what kind of job it is. Something unsafe gets attention the same day. Scheduled work generally starts within a few days, with permits and parts being the usual holdups.
Are you licensed for this?
Yes. We carry an Illinois electrical contractor license and insurance, and you are welcome to ask for proof of both before any work starts.
What does it cost?
That depends on the scope, and the scope depends on what we find when we open things up. We look first, then put a written number in front of you before anything starts. You decide from there.
