Electrical work in Chicago
If you are in Chicago, you are in our territory. Newer construction in the area means more EV chargers and more dedicated circuits.
The work is done under an Illinois electrical contractor license and it is insured on every job. Where a permit is required we pull it, so the work exists on the public record for the address. If it is an emergency we come out the same day.
What Chicago calls us for
The regular calls are service upgrades, dead circuits, lighting work and EV chargers. Older properties bring panel replacements with them, usually discovered when somebody tries to add one more thing to a panel that was full years ago.
Shops, offices and light industrial here need lighting, three-phase power and equipment circuits, which is routine work for us. Motor loads and equipment connections are their own discipline and they are not a residential electrician's day job. We also cover municipal and school work across Cook County.
The buildings in Chicago
Two-flats and small multi-unit buildings here bring their own issues, mostly around metering, separate services and making sure one unit's circuits are not feeding another's.
Plenty of homes have had more than one owner who liked to do it themselves. That shows up as splices without a box, circuits extended with the wrong gauge wire, and breakers swapped up a size to stop nuisance trips. None of it announces itself. It sits in the walls looking fine until a load goes on that the wiring cannot take. We find it by opening boxes and tracing circuits, and we tell you which pieces need fixing now and which can wait until the next project.
Local businesses here call mainly about lighting and about power for new equipment, plus the occasional panel that was never sized for what the tenant actually installed.
Weather, and what it does to wiring
Storm season drives most of the generator conversations locally. People buy backup power after the outage, not before it, which is why we keep transfer switch work moving in spring.
Permits in Chicago
Permit requirements vary from one municipality to the next, so we check what Chicago wants before the job rather than after.
How fast we get there
If you are not sure whether what you are seeing is urgent, call and describe it. We would rather talk you through it than have you wait on something that should not wait.
The service into a Chicago property
The service entrance cable on older properties is often the original, and its outer jacket breaks down from sun and weather over decades. Cracked sheathing where the cable enters the meter base or the house lets water in. It is an easy thing to check during any visit and a much easier thing to replace before it causes a fault.
Through the year
Fall brings the inspection and code-correction work, usually driven by a sale or a refinance. An inspector's correction notice is a fixed list with a deadline attached, and we work those straight through rather than stretching them out.
Working at your address
One thing worth knowing: we will not start a job we cannot finish properly the same visit unless we have told you in advance that it is a two-day job. Leaving a property half-wired overnight is not something we do, and if the scope turns out bigger mid-job we stop and talk to you first.
The warning signs people ignore
Look at the panel more often than you do. Rust inside the door, a breaker that feels warm, a label that no longer matches what the circuit runs. Those are easy to miss because nobody opens the panel until something is wrong. A quick look now beats a call at two in the morning.
Breakers that trip once in a while are not being fussy. Each trip is the breaker catching a real problem before the wire does.
What happens when we are done
We test before we call it finished, every time. If something does not test right, we fix it while we are still there. Then the panel gets labeled, the scraps leave with us, and you get a clear account of the job.
Where a permit was pulled you get the closed inspection. Where documentation exists, you get it.
If it is an emergency we come out the same day.

Chicago questions
Do you work in Chicago?
Chicago property owners call us for the same reasons everyone does. Most non-urgent work here gets on the calendar within the week. If something is genuinely unsafe we will tell you on the phone and come sooner.
How fast can you get to Chicago?
Same day when it cannot wait. We dispatch from Des Plaines, and Chicago is one of the towns our crews cover.
Do you pull the permit?
Yes. Where Chicago requires a permit we file it and meet the inspector.
Residential and commercial both?
Both, plus municipal and school work. Houses, offices, shops and public buildings in Cook County.
Are you licensed and insured?
Being licensed statewide means the same crew, the same standard and the same paperwork wherever the job is. The paperwork matters more than people expect, particularly when a building changes hands.
